Firm Profile Beth Boyd, CPA, P.C. was founded in 1997. My public accounting career, which began in 1987, included working for several local accounting firms. Working for small firms helped to hone my skills at addressing the unique challenges that face small businesses, from start-up issues to strategies for disposition of the business. I learned to work closely with individuals and deliver service in a personalized, rather than cookie-cutter fashion. Other experience includes working in varying accounting capacities in educational, manufacturing, retail and service businesses. I am a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA), the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and the National Society of Accountants (NSA). I volunteer my services preparing tax returns for recovering women at a local halfway house and for the St. Louis Tax Assistance Program. In addition, I donate gift certificates for my services to several community organizations and charitable auctions. CPAs are required to undertake a minimum of 40 hours per year of continuing education in order to remain licensed. In 2001, I took 72 hours of classes in order to keep abreast of issues that affect my clients. In 2002, that total will be more than 60 hours. In addition, AICPA member firms are required to have an outside peer review periodically to ensure that their work conforms to AICPA guidelines and practices. I am proud to have consistently received the highest marks given for peer review. I am a summa cum laude graduate of St. Louis University with a degree in Business Administration in Accounting. |
